Book 3 · Author

Orentha Vale

Orentha Vale is the original author of The Art of Being Struck: a Sensate scholar from Sigil, the City of Doors, who treated hostile magic not as theory, but as something the body could endure, remember, and record.

She is an experiential witness, arcane diarist, and collector of dangerous sensations whose work made pain legible without making it holy. Her accounts preserve the moment before harm becomes understanding: thunder in the ribs, false certainty behind the eye, command in the knees, and spellcraft learned from the wrong side.

When asked how she survived so much hostile spellwork, Vale is said to have answered with immense gravity:

“One saving throw at a time.”
