The Order of the Steady Hand

The Order of the Steady Hand is a small planar monastic order whose main house stands in Mount Celestia. Its members come from many worlds: mortals, celestials, wanderers, former adventurers, survivors, and those who have seen enough suffering to know that good intentions are not enough.

The order teaches disciplined intervention. A steady hand may heal, strike, guide, restrain, carry, write, or open a door at the right moment. Its purpose is not conquest, conversion, or glory, but to send trained people back into dangerous places with the wisdom to help without making the harm worse.

The Steady Hand does not train the naïve. It teaches that compassion without discipline becomes weakness, and discipline without compassion becomes cruelty. Those who leave its halls are expected to carry practical wisdom into the multiverse: to recognize danger, protect the vulnerable, and act with restraint when fear, anger, or power would make easier choices.
