Living Echoes begins as a rescue story and becomes something stranger. Elisa is lost, Firemind is broken, and Ṛṣi, Maeril, and Yorren go to Sigil looking for a way forward. But the rescue shape fails because the problem is not only where someone has gone; it is what returning too quickly might preserve.

This book is about hope learning to see clearly. The past is not dead, the future is not separate, and love cannot always restore the beloved in the first obvious way. Dawn becomes not only renewal, but revelation: the wound must be understood before goodness can choose a different path. Book 7 asks whether rescue is still mercy when it brings someone back into the same harm that broke them.
